WebZebedee, — what is the source and meaning of the name?

The name Zebedee originated in Israel where Zebedee means – abundant portion.  In history, as recorded in the Christian Bible, Zebedee is the husband of Salome (Mt 27:56; Mr 15:40).  He appears twice in the Gospel narrative, namely, in (Mt 4:21,22; Mr 1:19,20) where he is seen in his boat with his two sons mending their fishing nets when they are called to be disciples and fishers of men. .  Zebedee’s two sons are James and John, the apostles of Jesus Christ (Mt 4:21).
